Dear campus community,

I want to share with you the sad news that Ithaca College Board of Trustees chair emeritus Herman E. “Skip” Muller Jr. and honorary trustee George Schunck have both recently passed away.

Some of our longer-term faculty and staff may remember Skip and George. Skip served on our board from 1966 through 1982, then again from 1991 to 2003, including eight years as chair. He was appointed an honorary trustee twice and was named chair emeritus in 2012. George served on the college’s board of trustees for 10 years, from 1982 to 1992.

Thank you so much for your initial support of the food pantry.  We had a limited opening last Friday, reaching out to a small handful of students.  We are pleased to report that we opened with full shelves thanks to you and your colleagues and were able to serve 55 students in a short 2 hour time frame.

We anticipate being able to open with a full announcement to the campus community by the end of February.

We will be continuing to take donations throughout February and will soon (this week) be able to take cash donations at all retail dining sites across campus as well.  Cash donations will enable us to purchase the items that we need on a regular basis.
