During a concert this evening in the Campus Center’s Emerson Suites, a number of audience members began dancing in a synchronized jumping rhythm. That movement resulted in some visible flexing of the flooring, and corresponding flexing of the ceiling in the IC Square food court one floor below. Some sheet rock in the IC Square ceiling also cracked, and small pieces of it fell to the floor.

Campus Center management and the Office of Public Safety worked with the performing artist to bring a stop to the jumping, and the show ended safely. No one was hurt, and both rooms were safely cleared with no injuries reported.

The Staff Council Employee Recognition and Development Committee is pleased to announce Jennifer Pawlewicz and Luca Maurer as the first recipients honored with the Staff Recognition Award.  This award was created to recognize staff members who are actively involved with the IC community and who have gone above and beyond their regular work duties, demonstrating initiative, support, commitment and accomplishment. 

Committee members would like to thank everyone who took the time to nominate a colleague.  It was a pleasure to read all the nomination submissions and learn about the wonderful staff who make extraordinary contributions to our community.

The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen film series at Ithaca College will host events on back-to-back nights this month. The documentary “Sighted Eyes/Feeling Heart” will be shown on Tuesday, Feb. 12, and the web series “After Forever” will be shown on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Both screenings will take place at 6 p.m. in Textor 103, and both are free and open to the public.
