  Rachel Paparone (DMLL, French) has been awarded the CAITY Caucus Award for best essay developed from a paper presented by contingent faculty, adjunct instructors, independent scholars, and two-year college faculty members at the 2018 meeting of the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA). The essay was recently published in Studies in 20th and 21st Century Literature under the title "A(r)cadie heureuse? Space, Place, and Engaged Pastoral in Zachary Richard's Feu."

Ithaca College is partnering with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier again this semester to bring a mobile food pantry to our campus. The Mobile Food Pantry is used to deliver fresh produce, dairy products, and other food and grocery items directly to distribution sites where people need food.  The Ithaca College Library and Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) have partnered to implement Ex Libris Leganto, a new reading list/e-reserves tool that integrates with the Sakai learning environment. Faculty who currently use e-reserves are encouraged to use Leganto, as well as any faculty member who would like to utilize reading lists. Using the online Leganto system, attendees can begin to assemble materials of all types – physical books, online or digitized book chapters, scholarly articles, videos, newspaper articles, websites or any other type of material – to create a structured, comprehensive resource list. TLT staff will walk you through the getting started with Leganto and point out important features of the tool to support teaching and learning.

On January 30 from 4-5pm, in CNS 118, H&S is hosting a STEM only information sessions about the Summer Scholars Program. Professor Te-Wen Lo will be there to answer your questions and talk to you about what the program has to offer.

The H&S Summer Scholars Program provides paid positions for H&S students in all majors to engage full-time in research, scholarship, or creative inquiry projects in collaboration with an H&S Faculty Mentor. Students will be paid $11.10/hour for 8-10 weeks of full-time work (37.5 hours/week).

Through a new partnership with the Boston University School of Public Health, Ithaca College students will have the opportunity to apply for early acceptance into an accelerated graduate program. The Select Scholar Program (SSP) allows an IC junior from any major to apply to earn their Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from BUSPH.

I am writing to share with you that the senior leadership team and I have recently made an adjustment to the communications office’s placement within the institution. The Office of College Relations and Communications is moving out of the Division of Institutional Advancement and is being re-named the Division of College Communications. Associate Vice President Jennifer Campbell, who has led the communications team since arriving at Ithaca College at the end of 2015, now reports to me and has just joined the senior leadership team.

Be aware of a recently-reported bug with Apple's FaceTime app that could allow the caller to eavesdrop on you unexpectedly. Doing a web search for "FaceTime bug" will find numerous news articles about the problem, how to disable FaceTime, and what Apple is doing about it.
