Have you ever tried to register for a class that appeared to have seats remaining, only to find it closed?  This can happen to students who are registering for a class that is cross-listed, which means the course is being offered under two different subjects.  (For example, “Sport Economics” is offered as a Sport Management course and an Economics course.)  The confusion can arise from the way Homer indicates seat availability.

Looking to fulfill required credits during the Winter 2019 session (January 7-18) from home? Take Educational Psychology ONLINE through Ithaca College! Ed Psych explores the study of human development from infancy through adolescence, including cognitive and behavioral approaches to learning in the context of school and other instructional situations. Attention is also given to the scientific attitude in relating theory and practice in various educational settings.

Educational Psychology is required for the Education Studies Minor, for the Teacher Education Preparation, and also fulfills GE 1: Self & Society, Liberal Arts, and SS.

Ithaca College is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Rod Serling Scriptwriting Competition.  They are as follows:

First Place:  Vance Berk, Songbird on the Wire 

Second Place:  David Eversole, Shoo, Fly

Third Place:  Eugene Ramos, When Waterdrops Have Worn the Stones of Troy

This year’s winners will receive prizes of $250, $150 and $100 respectively.

The competition honors excellence in a short script displaying strong contemporary social themes in the science fiction and horror genres that are in the tradition of Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone or Night Gallery.  It is open to non-produced or non-optioned writers only.

We are fortunate to live in an area that embodies an inviting sense of community. It is with this sense of community that Ithaca College kicks off our annual United Way Campaign. On October 16, 2018, SHRM which is the largest global human resources membership association posted an article written by Delphia Howze, Director of Employee Relations and Development.  The article is titled “Creating a Safe Space for Inclusive Dialogue” and provides readers with high-level considerations that will aid in setting the stage for productive discussions on the topic of Diversity & Inclusion.   

Professor Akiko Fillinger of the Chemistry Department gave an invited talk at State University of New York at Cortland October 22, 2018 on how chemistry can contribute to solar energy utilization and explained her research projects with Ithaca College undergraduate students. Her research projects focus on fuel production, such as hydrogen gas via water splitting, by utilizing solar energy with electrochemically synthesized materials.  The talk was well received by the audience providing scientific information to students who are keen on environmental issues.  

 

Kevin is an Award-Winning Global Speaker, Best-Selling Author, Documentary Filmmaker, and Suicide Prevention & Mental Health Advocate.

Kevin is also one of only thirty-six (less than 1%) to survive jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge and he is the only Golden Gate Bridge jump survivor who is actively spreading the message of living mentally healthy around the globe.

On Saturday November 10th from 11:30am - 3:30pm, the Ithaca College Substance Free Community will be hosting an event for students who would like to watch the annual Cortaca Jug Game in Textor 101.  There will be a variety of tailgate foods such as chips and salsa, wings, subs, and more!

**This is a zero tolerance event, and anyone suspected of having consumed any substance will be asked to leave.

 The National Association for Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the Council for Opportunity in Education recently announced that November 8th to be First-Generation Student Celebration Day. This day was created to celebrate their first-generation student populations and strengthen the first-generation community by bringing students, faculty, and staff together.

Spring 2019 Course Registration

Students can view their Registration Status (aka Time Ticket) on HomerConnect. Registration Status lets students know what time they can register for classes. 

Students in H & S, RLS, Pre-Pro, and current freshmen in the School of Business are required to meet with their advisor to receive their RAC (registration access code).

The only way for a student to obtain this code is to make an advising appointment with their advisor.
