Ted Galanthay, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, presented his research at the 18th International Symposium on Dynamic Games and Applications, held in Grenoble, France, July 9-12.  Dr. Galanthay's research topic was A game-theoretic approach to foraging dynamics.  This was joint work with Vlastimil Krivan (Czech Academy of Sciences) and Ross Cressman (Wilfrid Laurier University).  The abstract for the presentation follows.

Daniel Pascoe Aguilar, Executive Director of Career Services, will be leaving Ithaca College to serve as Associate Provost for Experiential Education & Career Development at Drew University.  Daniel brought to our campus community his visionary and inclusive leadership, warmth and genuine sincerity, and unwavering commitment to student success.  I am deeply appreciative of the innovative approach he has taken in his role.  Daniel’s last day will be Friday, September 7.

Dr. Felice Russell (Education) and her colleague Dr. Kerry Von Esch, of Seattle University, recently were featured on the podcast, Highest Aspirations by ELLevation Education. The series explores responsiveness to the needs of English Language Learners in schools. The July 18, 2018, episode with Dr. Russell addresses teachers' professional development and the importance of cultivating teacher leadership in support of English Language Learners. 

 

Dr. Susan Adams Delaney, Associate Professor of Writing, has been selected to serve as the College’s Interim ICC Director during the 2018-19 academic year. Dr. Adams Delaney is a former co-chair of the Committee on College-wide Requirements, has taught several ICC courses, and has been actively involved in ICC assessment and the development of writing intensive courses. She has also served as Director of First-Year Composition in the Department of Writing.

Lucas Hnath’s A Doll’s House Part 2 (2016) is a sequel to Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (1879).  Ibsen’s innovation was in adopting the popular “well-made-play” form to critically examine and expose problems in the society such as the inequality between husband and wife.
