(326 words) East Tower Has Reopened Following Thursday Morning FireContributed by David Maley on 01/25/18 The East Tower has reopened as of 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. The residence hall was closed following a morning fire that was contained to a single room on the 10th floor. The Ithaca Fire Department responded and the sprinkler system extinguished the fire, and no one was injured. Because of smoke and water damage to rooms, the entire 10th floor and three rooms on the 9th floor cannot be occupied for at least the overnight. The college is assisting the displaced residents in making alternative housing arrangements. Only one of the two elevators is working at this time, with the other expected to be back in service on Friday. Read more . . .
