Zoe Mendrysa “19 (Major - Biology) has been selected as a presenter during the 52nd annual conference to be held by the National Collegiate Honors Council in Atlanta, Georgia.

Zoe has been selected to present their session entitled, “Chlamydia Virulence Factors Subvert Host Cell Apoptosis” on November 11 2017. Her research will highlight Chlamydia trachomitis and host cell interactions by using hypothetical proteins to determine organelle localization. The national submission process for the NCHC annual conference is highly selective, with hundreds of students and faculty submitting proposals each year.

While in Atlanta, Zoe will have the opportunity to explore the city of Atlanta through NCHC’s City as TextTM Program, network with other honors students and faculty from across the country and around the world, and celebrate the unique community created by honors education.

Xanthe Matychak, who teaches a maker lab in ENVS and coaches tech startups at Rev Ithaca, was a panelist at the "Smart Cities in a Connected World" forum hosted by the Center for Technology Licensing at Cornell University. Speaking at the forum were Academics, Government Agencies, and Industry Reps from AT&T, Samsung, and Uber. 

Elena Piech “19 (Major - Emerging Media - Design & Production) has been selected as a presenter during the 52nd annual conference to be held by the National Collegiate Honors Council in Atlanta, Georgia.

Elena has been selected to present their session entitled, “Teaching Activism in Honors Courses.” on November 12, 2017. Her research will highlight how attending activist movements and protests can better enhance how students understand social movements. The national submission process for the NCHC annual conference is highly selective, with hundreds of students and faculty submitting proposals each year.

While in Atlanta, Elena will have the opportunity to explore the city of Atlanta through NCHC’s City as TextTM Program, network with other honors students and faculty from across the country and around the world, and celebrate the unique community created by honors education.

Jess Shapiro, Honors Academic Assistant and Residence Director for Eastman and Lyon Halls has been selected as a co- presenter during the 52nd annual conference to be held by the National Collegiate Honors Council in Atlanta, Georgia.

 Jess Shapiro and Katherine Hellmann (University of Texas at Tyler) have been selected to co-present their session entitled, “A Look at Diversity Education in Honors” on November 10, 2017. Their research will highlight how educating honors students on diversity and social justice issues can be fraught with lack of time, understanding, and uncertainty. Find out how Ithaca College and the University of Texas at Tyler created and implemented a developmental diversity curriculum.  Presenters will share assessment data and educational materials.

Ithaca College is partnering with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier again this year to bring a mobile food pantry to our campus. The food pantry will be back next week - Tuesday, November 14th! Additional dates below.

The Mobile Food Pantry is used to deliver fresh produce, dairy products, and other food and grocery items directly to distribution sites where people need food. These food items are available free of charge. More info on the Mobile Food Pantry program can be found here
