Do you want to spend a part of your day giving back to the community and building leadership skills? Then you should sign-up for this month's Service Saturday, on Saturday February 18th! Students will be volunteering at awesome local sites such as:

  • Beechtree Care Center

  • Cayuga Nature Center

  • Newfield United Methodist Church

Service Saturdays are a great way to participate in community service and to give back to the Ithaca Community. Sign up to gain community service hours, spend your Saturday doing something new, and to meet new peers!

The Office of International Programs and Extended Studies (OIPES) would like to invite all staff and faculty interested in taking students abroad to attend our upcoming workshop about  the development and planning of faculty/staff-led short-term study abroad programs.  The workshop will be held on Friday, February 17, from 3:00-4:30 pm, in the Taughannock Falls Room, Campus Center.  Participants are invited to stay for a wine and cheese reception with the workshop facilitator and International Programs staff from 4:30-5:00.

"Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric": a community screening and discussion February 8th, in Textor 101, from 7-9 pm. Free and open to the public.

In January 2017, National Geographic published a special  issue on gender, featuring photos, text, and graphics related to gender expressions around the world. This was to be followed by a TV special in February - Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric. IC has acquired the documentary for a special community screening of this program, to be held on February 8th, in Textor 101, from 7-9 pm. A discussion will follow the 90-minute screening and be led by Carla Golden, Coordinator of Women’s and Gender Studies and Luca Maurer, Program Director of the LGBT Center. Golden and Maurer will bring an intersectional feminist/queer critique to this mainstream production.

  Come to IC Art for Services first meeting of the semester tonight (2/6) at 8pm in Williams 222. We will be making heart handwarmers that will be donated to residents in nursing homes in the Ithaca community. They simply place their microwave safe handwarmer in the microwave and can enjoy its warmth! This is a quick project that is fun and for a good cause, so come relax with art for service!

A test of the Ithaca College Emergency Notification System (ENS) will take place during the noon hour on Thursday, Feb. 9. Also tested will be the Outdoor Warning System (OWS), which features a siren tone and loudspeaker message. There is no need to take any action in response to the tests.

The City of Ithaca will be closing a portion of South Aurora St./Rt. 96B near Ithaca College on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 6-7. Motorists will need to use an alternate route while a new water service line is being installed. The project is planned to start at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, and be completed by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The schedule is subject to change.
