On Monday, October 26, by special invitation John W. White (Music Theory) gave two presentations to local-area educators at the 2015 Staff Development Day for the Seneca Tompkins Music Educator's Association. The two talks focussed on musicianship pedagogy: (1) Practical Application of Rhythm Solfege (Takadimi); and (2) Analyzing with Your Ear: A constructive approach for insightful listening.

The Office of International Programs (OIP) would like to invite all faculty and staff to attend our upcoming workshops designed to assist in the development of short-term study abroad programs.  The workshops are offered as a two-part series. We recommend that those interested in developing short-term study abroad opportunities for Ithaca College students attend both workshops (Program Planning and Proposal Submission Logistics and Risk Management and Student Safety) in order to have a full understanding of the process and requirements for designing and leading short-term study abroad programs

Interested in presenting your research at NCUR this year? NCUR is the largest celebration of student scholarship in the world. Thousands of student scholars from across the United States and from many foreign countries will meet April 7-9, 2016 in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina. Ithaca College will support approximately 40 students to present at NCUR.

The School of Humanities and Sciences and the Department of Writing are pleased to present an evening with acclaimed fiction writer Edward P. Jones, Pulitzer Prize winner and MacArthur Fellow. He will read from his work at 7:30pm on Tuesday, November 3rd in Hockett Family Recital Hall. The reading is free and open to the public. A question-and-answer period and book-signing will follow.

As part of institutional analysis about how best to structure administrative offices and services, Ithaca College’s extended learning programs, including winter and summer sessions and summer pre-college programming, as well as the Ithaca College-Cornell University exchange, will be moved under the umbrella of the renamed Office of International Programs and Extended Studies, led by Assistant Provost Tanya Saunders. This expanded unit will enhance collaboration among the full range of academic opportunities outside the traditional fall/spring semester calendar, whether offered locally or in geographically distant locations. Staff responsible for these programs will be moving from Peggy Ryan Williams Center to Job Hall within the next few weeks.  The Office of International Programs and Extended Studies will collaborate with Digital Instruction and Information Services (formerly ITS) on ongoing and new technology-based learning experiences.
