Ithaca College ITS is pleased to announce that both Friends and Textor Halls have now passed the Wi-Fi testing phase and are complete.  Faculty, Staff and Students using that building should now enjoy strong, stable, robust Wi-Fi service.

So far, we've run over 15 miles of cable, installed well over a thousand Access Points (APs) and have the ability to service thousands of people - but we've still got more to do!  We are almost done revamping the academic buildings and will be finishing the rest very soon!

Ithaca College earned its 15th-straight Empire 8 Commissioner's Cup following the conference's announcement on Wednesday, May 27. Standings for the Commissioner's Cup are determined by schools' finish in standings or championship tournaments within conference sports.

Student Health 101 is sponsored by the Center for Health Promotion in the Center for Counseling, Health, and Wellness at Ithaca College. Questions or comments may be directed to Nancy Reynolds, Program Director. 

Entries are now being accepted for the 2015 Rod Serling Conference's Short Feature Scriptwriting Competition.

The script competition is open to nonproduced or nonoptioned writers only.

The deadline for entries is Friday, August 14, 2015.

Serling taught at Ithaca College from 1967 until his death in 1975. Ithaca College is also home to the Rod Serling Archives consisting of television scripts, movie screenplays, stage play scripts, films, published works by Serling, unproduced scripts, and secondary materials.

Annette Levine, Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures, presented a paper entitled "For Whom We Speak: Devising Actos for Undocumented Farmworkers" at the International Congress of the Latin American Studies Association. The presentation grappled with the complex issues of representation and performance of theatre about marginalized communities.

On Sunday, June 7th starting at 6:00 AM, ITS will be working with an external electrical company to replace aging components of the electrical infrastructure in the Phillips Hall server room. This maintenance will require approximately 7 hours of downtime for the main IC Web site and most other College systems.

In recognition of the necessity for online systems and services to be highly available, ITS is establishing a new system maintenance schedule to better meet the needs of the campus community. Hélène Larin, PT, PhD, offered a platform presentation on 'Emotional-social intelligence, caring, moral judgement and leadership of physical therapy students: Relationship with clinical performance' at the World Confederation for Physical Therapists - 2015 Congress, held in Singapore.

Peter Melcher (Biology) participated and presented at the NSF Workshop on Vascular Transport in Plants – Research Frontiers and Priorities (Washington, DC, May 18-20, 2015).

Ian Woods was invited to talk at Baldwin Wallace University's Bach Festival earlier this spring.

U.S. Quakers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries engaged in social and political reform activities that included intervening in U.S. insular policy discourses. Hicksite Quaker Albert K. Smiley, a rather unknown Social gospeller, contributed to such national policy debates by providing a communal democratic space for engaging in what Figueroa calls 'political ecumenism.' This talk examined these early U.S. Quaker national policy interventions through Smiley’s Lake Mohonk Conference of Friends of the Indian and Other Dependent Peoples (LMC) to show how both American and Filipino leaders, Quaker and non-Quaker alike, utilized the LMC to assuage the polarizing & competing racial-religious values serving as cultural barriers (broadly characterizing the ‘Philippine problem’) to U.S. Philippine policy development.
