Established through contributions from staff, faculty, and friends of James J. Whalen, Ithaca College’s 6th president, in honor of his 22 years of service to the College. This award is granted to eligible staff members in a degree program at Ithaca College. The money can be used to pay for books and defray other educational costs. Candidates for the J.J. Staff Scholar Award must be full-time staff members of the College; matriculated in a degree program; have completed at least 60 credit hours toward an undergraduate degree, or pursuing a graduate-level degree, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. It is with great sadness that we share the news that an IC campus community member, Cathy Saloff-Coste, recently passed away unexpectedly. Cathy worked with students through the Center for Counseling Health and Wellness as a registered dietitian. She was a dear friend to many of us and was an asset to Ithaca College in numerous ways. For over 15 years, Cathy met individually with students to address their nutritional concerns, providing gentle and respectful advice about healthy eating. As a Certified Eating Disorders Registered Dietitian (CEDRD), Cathy was passionate about helping students who were struggling with disordered eating, as well as prevention education. She provided workshops and other programs on campus, such as panel presentations during National Eating Disorders Awareness Week and the annual NEDAW information series on Intercom. Read more . . . The Fitness Center is now open to all students, faculty, and staff who will be living, learning, or working on-campus this semester provided that they are in compliance with all testing and screening requirements and are cleared to access campus. Members of the campus community who will be remote this semester will still have access to virtual fitness programming but will not be eligible to register for in-person activities or facility reservations.
