TRD 2015 will take place on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17. Pre-registration is required. Districts from across the country send recruiters to conduct interviews for known and anticipated vacancies. Candidates from 12 Central New York colleges and universities are invited to attend this employment event. Dr. Ed Baptist, Associate Professor of History at Cornell University, will be on campus Tuesday, February 24, to share insights from his new book The Other Half Hasn’t Been Told: Slavery and the Making of American Capitalism (Basic Books) and from his crowdsourcing project, Freedom on the Move. In a review of Dr. Baptist’s new book, the Daily Beast notes that “Baptist turns the long-accepted argument that slavery was economically inefficient on its head, and argues that it was an integral part of America's economic rise."

We will offer five $1,500 awards. Read more . . . (157 words) On Sunday, February 7th, Ithaca College Hillel hosted an a'capella concert in IC Square to bring people together on the cold day. This all a'capella show featured New York City's Maccabeats, an all male Jewish group, as well as Ithaca College's Premium Blend and VoiceStream groups. Over 100 people including students and community members came out to enjoy the show. Kayla from Ithaca College Hillel says, "With crowd favorites, like "Keep Your Head Up," "Candlelight," and "All About That Neis," students were out of their seats and dancing to the catchy tunes." IC Premium Blend and Voice Stream also brought great performances; be sure to check these groups out on campus later in the semester! Kudos for a fun show with a great turn out! Read more . . . (18 words) During the week of February 2nd, mental health awareness group, Active Minds, held daily events encouraging students to focus on their well-being. The events included “Real Facetime”, “Bracelet Making”, “Planting Seeds of Positivity”, and a screening of the Australian television show “Please Like Me”. The first event, “Real Facetime”, consisted of students unplugging from their electronic devices and enjoying time spent with loved ones in a face-to-face setting. “Planting Seeds of Positivity”, as pictured, was an event designed to spend time planting greenery to spend time in a relaxing manner.
