Longview is a retirement community located on Danby Road up from the College’s main entrance. It is run by the Ithacare Center Service Company, Inc. As part of the partnership between Ithaca College and Longview, a student board member position was created for the Ithacare Board a number of years ago. This was created to provide a student with an educational and leadership opportunity and to encourage student input into aspects of the Board function that touch on the IC/LV Partnership. There will be an opening for a student member for the academic year 2015-2016.

All faculty planning to conduct research or classroom activity involving nucleic acids or any potentially bio-hazardous material, including pathogens, biological toxins, or human cells, tissues, organs or fluids must obtain prior approval from the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) before undertaking that activity. This committee provides federally-mandated oversight of activities that present risk of infection or illness in humans. Read more . . . Hogben on 01/26/15 Sherry Deckman, Education, presented, “Doing Diversity Differently in One Black Student Organization” at the American Anthropological Association Annual Meeting in Washington, DC in December. This paper presentation focused on Sherry’s ongoing research on diversity in higher education. In the study this paper is derived from, she draws on over a year of ethnographic fieldnotes and participant interviews to document how one black undergraduate student organization at Harvard University negotiates a multiracial membership.
