July 4–28, 2015; 2 credits; $3,900 (plus airfare)

Study abroad in Galway, Ireland this July and attend and volunteer at 2 major arts festivals.

Over 3 weeks, you’ll earn 2 academic credits and be placed in internship positions on the Galway Film Fleadh (www.galwayfilmfleadh.com) and/or Galway International Arts Festival (www.giaf.ie). Placements will be assigned in discussion with the program organizers.

As one of the top scholars on the subject of lynching and mob violence in the post-Civil War U.S. South, the Journal of American History invited Dr. Trotti  to contribute a response to an essay by historian Michael Pfeifer. In "The Multiple States and Fields of Lynching Scholarship" Journal of American History 101(December 2014): 852-3. Dr Trotti offers a review and critique of Dr. Pfeifer's essay “At the Hands of Parties Unknown? The State of the Field of Lynching Scholarship.”  

The traffic light at the intersection of Alumni Circle and Route 96B has defaulted to a flashing yellow light due to a system malfunction. The Office of Facilities has been working with outside contractors to diagnose the problem and identify the corrective action as quickly as possible.

International Human Rights Day

December 10th marks the date that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. This Wednesday, Dec. 10th, we will honor this historic date by unveiling stories that bear witness to U.S. - Latin American relations and the experiences of activism and resistance. 

7-7:45pm Teatro y Fronteras. IC Teatro will will share original works they've written inspired by the Teatro Campesino movement.

7:50-8:30pm Ayotzinapa's 43 missing student activists.

On December 2, the Student Activities Board (SAB) hosted it's annual Extreme Gingerbread Making Competition in IC Square.  Fifteen teams competed to win gift cards to local stores and restaurants using various assortments of candy, icing, and graham crackers. Many impressive gingerbread houses were built!  Congratulations to Nora Noone and the other members of the firs place team.  Great job everyone!

SAB is a student organization that works to provide events such as comedy, films, music, speakers, and special events to educate and entertain the Ithaca College community.

On November 18, IC Sketch held its fall showcase entitled You Can't Stop the Beet.  Members were able to submit sketches beforehand, and seven were chosen to be performed live that night along with one digital short.  Over 40 people attended the event, and overall it was a great success.

IC Sketch is a student-run sketch comedy club that is open to students in all majors.  The student organization puts on multiple shows each semester giving members many opportunities to submit sketch ideas and perform.

On November 17 and 18, the IC National Residence Hall Honorary held their annual Krispy Kreme Donuts Fundraiser in the North Foyer to raise money for their service and recognition projects. This year they sold 540 donuts and made over $300.

IC NRHH is a chapter of a national organization that recognizes individuals living in residence halls who have been of outstanding service, and who have provided important leadership in the advancement of the residence hall system and/or the Ithaca College community.

The IC Amani Gospel Singers held its fall concert on Saturday, November 15 in Emerson Suites. Twelve of the group members performed seven songs that were selected by the members in the student organization.  Some songs featured included "Blessed Assurance," "Expect the Great," and "I Feel Your Spirit." Congratulations to Xavier Edwards, who performed a solo song he chose himself and prepared over the course of the semester.


Amani Gospel Singers is a student-led vocal group on campus  focused on spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through songs of praise and worship. Individual members and small groups of members have the opportunity to practice pieces on their own and perform in concert as well.

Do you know someone with MS (multiple sclerosis) or have a close friend or relative who knows someone dealing with MS? Looking to join an organization that positively impacts the IC community? Check out ICMSA (Ithaca College Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Club)! Under the leadership of Julie Donner (President), ICMSA has become a powerful force on campus that brings awareness to the student body on MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Julie, like other members of the organization got involved because someone close to her had been diagnosed with MS and she wanted to know what she could do to help.

 

As an organization, ICMSA is dedicated to raising awareness for MS as well as funding research and supporting community members affected by the disease. Their weekly meetings consist of discussions on why they are members of the organization, how they can fundraise and why it is so important to spread awareness.
