This coming fall, Ithaca College is launching a Food Allergy Awareness Club.  The purpose of the club is to advocate for those with specific dietary needs, serve as a support group, and create a safe and inclusive atmosphere in the dorms, dining halls, and bonus bucks locations.

Students without dietary restrictions are also welcome!  Perhaps you have family or friends with a food intolerance, or you are a nutrition or health major.  Our goal is to spread knowledge and understanding of the growing epidemic of food allergies.  Together we can find solutions.

Due to the bank holiday on Friday, July 4th, the next biweekly pay day will be on Thursday, July 3.  Because of this, all timecards must be submitted and approved by 9 a.m. on Monday, June 30.  Any timecards not approved by this time will be processed in the next payroll on Friday, July 18.

Laura presented at the 2014 Canadian Health Libraries Association, held June 17-20, 2014, in Montreal. The conference theme was "Scaling New Heights Together". Laura's lecture was entitled, "Research Syntheses in Graduate Research: A Scoping Review."

The campus voice mail system will be unavailable for approximately 2 hours* starting at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, 6/24 due to system maintenance. During the maintenance, callers will not be able to access voice mail "trees" or leave voice mail messages.

*Note that the downtime is a correction from the originally-published one hour window.

Michael Yarrow, a longtime advocate for peace and justice who retired as an associate professor of sociology in 1997, passed away on June 2 at the age of 74.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Third Street Quaker Meetinghouse, 120 Third Street in Ithaca.

Marie Sanford, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, presented a poster at the 22nd Annual Colloquium of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children-APSAC (June 11-14, 2014) in New Orleans, LA.. The poster was entitled “Clinical Perspectives in Interviewing Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Children.”

The Department of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology has conducted ongoing research in oral proficiency of non-native English speakers. The most recent presentation included work contributed by graduate student research assistants, Anne Escobedo (Class of 2015) and Julie Balazs (Class of 2014) with faculty member, Marie Sanford.

They presented a paper at the 9th International Conference of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences held at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. The paper was entitled “Identifying Reliable Predictors of Oral Proficiency in Non-Native English Speakers.”

The Department of Physical Therapy (PT) recently experienced the departure of three faculty members. At the end of May, Dr. Deborah Nawoczenski and Dr. Ernest Nalette retired, and Dr. Karen Nolan pursued her career at another institution.

Marlena Grzaslewicz, an Emmy-winning sound editor, recently finished work on Ken Burns' upcoming documentary The Roosevelts: An Intimate Story. The series is set to air on PBS in September.

Grzaslewicz served as dialogue editor on the project. At Ithaca College Grzaslewicz is a Pendleton Endowed Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies.

"IC Love at First Sight"....NEEDS YOUR HELP! :)

The First-Year Residential Experience is collaborating with IC More Love Letters -- a student organization with IC Campus Cursive -- to provide a "love letter" for every first-year student room for their arrival on August 24th!  We're calling this initiative, "IC Love at First Sight"!

That means we need to write 1,077 love letters!!...WE COULD USE YOUR HELP!
