Carlos Figueroa (Politics Department) has recently presented a paper titled “The Footnote/Endnote as an Interpretive Analytical Tool in Historical Political Science” as part of the Interpretation Across the Discipline panel, and also chaired a discussion on "Theorizing Black Identity" within the section titled Race, Ethnicity and Politics.  These sessions were part of the Western Political Science Association annual conference held in Seattle, WA, April 2014.  

The campus community is invited to attend a public presentation by a candidate for the Manager of Student Accessibility Services position.

Stewart Auyash, Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, participated as a member of the program review team for the IES Study Abroad programs in Cape Town, South Africa.  The on-site portion of the review took place in May.

High on the hill in Collegetown last Thursday, June 12, in front of a standing-room-only crowd, members of the Ithaca College School of Music Jazz faculty—including Michael Titlebaum (saxophone), Greg Evans (drum set), and Nicholas Walker (double bass)—played side-by-side with the Ithaca High School Jazz Ensemble, directed by Michael Treat, an IC School of Music alum.

A unique opportunity for both groups, the concert featured compositions by Ithaca College Jazz Studies Director Michael Titlebaum, Ithaca College Professor Emeritus Steve Brown, and Ithaca High School students Soren Jung and Kieran Loehr, as well as works by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Machito, Rogers & Heart, Bob Shaut, and Pat Metheny.

The American Film Showcase, a special project of the US State Department, has reappointed Patricia R. Zimmermann, professor of screen studies and codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, as a film expert for their film envoy program.

This appointment is Zimmermann’s third as a US State Department Film Envoy as a scholar and programmer of both analog and digital document.  For the American Film Showcase and the US State Department, Zimmermann has worked in China and in Guinea, delivering lectures, moderating post-screening discussions, and conducting workshops.
