The main ITS public computer labs will follow the regular academic schedule until Monday, May 6th. To help you get your work done, most of the computer labs will be open their regular hours during Finals Week. For your convenience, a few labs will have extended hours. Please see our public labs website for details on the end of semester lab hours. CHS will be open additional hours on the next two Saturdays 5/4 and 5/11 from 12pm-5pm. Williams 210 will be open additional hours on Saturday 5/11 from 12pm-5pm.

Senior Class Food Drive!

As the semester winds down, don't let your food go to waste!

The Senior Class is holding a food drive from May 8-15 to benefit KBBA. Boxes will be in the Circle Community Center and in the Gardens to collect any non-perishable food items you have left over. Make sure no food goes wasted!

 Bomber Bikes, the bicycle advocacy student organization on campus, is proud to announce the completion of Ithaca College's first bicycle shelter! All are welcome to celebrate its installation this Tuesday, May 7th at 12:15pm. At the new shelter (on the east side of Williams Hall) there will be a few words of appreciation given with ribbon-cutting and CAKE to follow!

Stephen Younger, Economics Department, presented a paper "The Incidence of Recent Child Health Improvements in Africa, " co-authored with David Sahn, at the Spring Symposium on Growth, Poverty and Inequality: Confronting the Challenges for a Better Life for all Africa at Cornell University, April 19-20, 2013.

Stephen Younger will serve as a discussant for "Inclusive Growth in Africa: Lessons from South Korea." The African Development Bank (AfDB), the Korean Development Institute (KDI) and the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) is organizing an Expert Group meeting on Inclusive Growth in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from May 6-7, 2013. 

Randi Millman-Brown presented a paper at the annual Visual Resources Association conference in April 2013 in Providence, RI.

 This is a call to all Ithaca College students who are interested in being a part of a prison arts initiative, either as a regular member or in a leadership role as a student organization officer. Creative Arts Outreach: HEARD Program is a student organization that leads weekly creative arts programming for the young adult male residents of MacCormick Secure Center, a juvenile justice facility in nearby Brooktondale, NY. We are seeking new members for the upcoming fall semester.

James Mick, assistant professor of music education, in collaboration with Diana Geiger, Boynton Middle School Orchestra Director, received a Red and Gold Grant through the Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI), which aims to connect local schools with the community. 

The grant made it possible for Mick to visit Boynton Middle School throughout the semester to work with the orchestra. As a capstone experience, Mick will be conducting a piece with the orchestra at Boynton's May 9 concert.

The old Oracle Calendar system, replaced by Microsoft Outlook in January of this year, will be permanently turned off on the afternoon of Friday, May 31. The server will be shut down in preparation for the power outage on June 1, and will not be turned back on.

It's been almost a year since the college switched to Microsoft Exchange email (Live@edu) and began supporting Microsoft Outlook 2010 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac. Around the same time, Mozilla announced that it would discontinue development of Thunderbird.

As of June 2013, ITS will no longer be providing the Thunderbird email program on new computers. In addition, Thunderbird files (including local email) will no longer be moved from the old computer to the new one as part of the technology renewal process.
