Matt Fee, director of the Park Scholar Program, presented at the recent international conference Ireland and Cinema: Culture and Contexts, held at University College Cork, in Cork, Ireland.

Fee presented "Gothic Anxiety and Historical Transformation in Irish Cinema," research that examines how Irish films from the 1980s and 1990s use the Gothic in order to examine anxieties around Irish identity in the late twentieth century, particularly involving Ireland's Anglo-Irish inheritance from its colonial eighteenth century.

On May 1 at 5:30pm, Wings of Springs will present its annual site-specific dance event on the Ithaca College campus, beginning in the Academic Quad outside Campus Center. This year’s production, “The Sounds of Spring”, features the collaboration of students in varying disciplines.

This course will describe the structure, transmission, replication, prevention and treatment, and associated pathology of viruses.  The course will discuss the historical, cultural and economic impact of clinically significant DNA and RNA viruses such as HIV, influenza, HPV, hepatitis, Ebola and norovirus. (3 credits) Fall 2013; MWF 8-8:50, Hill 107.

 Dr. Kari Brossard-Stoos of the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education will teach the course.

Asma Barlas, professor and director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, gave invited presentations on the Qur'an and Muslim women's rights/status at SUNY at Oneonta, Cornell University, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges in March and April.
 

 IC Teatro will present two performances of Beautiful Señoritas, by renowned Cuban writer and columnist Dolores Prida.

April 27 at 7pm at Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) 330 E. MLK/State St. *Performance will be followed by a reception

April 28 at 6pm in Textor 101, Ithaca College                                                     *Performance followed by talkback with CSCRE professor Paula Ioanide

 

Both shows are free and open to the public.

In the Fall of 2011 Financial Services formed a project team to explore alternatives that would replace the current manual system for creation and processing of Travel Authorization and Travel Expense Report Forms with an automated Travel Expense Management system. We also recognized the need to explore alternatives to the College’s current travel booking solution provided by Travel Guard Chartis.

Lawrence Doebler, professor of performance studies and director of choral activities at the School of Music, will be retiring at the end of the semester after 35 years with Ithaca College.
