Cecilia Vicuña is a poet, visual artist, and filmmaker from Chile. The author of twenty books of poetry and the co-editor of The Oxford Book of Latin American Poetry, her work deals with improvisatory oral performance and interactions between language, textiles, and the environment. Wayne Koestenbaum has published fifteen books of essays, criticism, and poetry including the acclaimed work The Queen's Throat: Opera, Homosexuality, and the Mystery of Desire, which was nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award. It begins at 7:30pm in Ford Hall, Whalen Center and is open to all. It is a concert not to be missed! Faculty, students and community members will perform classical, jazz, spirituals, gospel, and Broadway selections, including a Lee Hoiby’s setting of Dr. King’s “I have A Dream” speech featuring bass-baritone Steve Wilkins ’13.
