As promised, Faculty Council will hold another faculty-only Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, November 13 at 12:05 - 1:00 PM in Textor 102. No minutes will be taken, no reporters will be present. This is intended to be an open discussion regarding many of the issues that are emerging on campus. Administrators holding faculty appointments are requested to refrain from attending.

Spoken word/hip-hop artist Colin Masashi “Senbei” Ehara will give a free performance at Ithaca College on Monday, Nov. 12. Titled “Re: Incarnation,” his show is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Emerson Suites. It is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity (CSCRE).

Asma Barlas, professor and director of the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, published an invited essay, "Teaching Islam in the West: That includes Australia, too!" in the November 2012 issue of *Dialogue Australasia Journal.*  The journal, which is meant for secondary school teachers, is "committed to improving the academic standards of Values, Philosophy and Religious Studies in Australian and New Zealand schools."
 

The Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts will present the “The Dream of the Burning Boy” by David West Read. This production is the department’s Senior Directing Project this semester and will be directed by Sara Stevens ’13. There will be four performances, at 5 PM and 8 PM on Sunday, November 11th and 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM on Monday, November 12th. All performances will be held in Studio 2 in Dillingham Center. Tickets for “The Dream of the Burning Boy” are free of charge and are available by emailing ictams1@gmail.com and requesting a specific performance. Because seating is very limited, we ask that you limit your order to one ticket per customer. Patrons are reminded to come at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the performance to claim their ticket reservation.

Three student documentaries will air on WCNY, the Syracuse PBS affiliate, on Sunday, November 18 at 10:00 p.m. The films were produced during the Spring 2012 semester as assignments for Senior Media Thesis, a capstone course taught by professors Steve Gordon and John Scott.

Founded at Ithaca College in 1928, the Oracle Honor Society’s membership includes the top 10% of students in each school after their first full academic year. Oracle is founded upon the symbol of the star. The five points represent the attributes of excellence for which members of Oracle aspire: Scholarship, Leadership, Loyalty, Service, and Character. The laurel wreath around the star represents the achievements of Oracle members. The wall represents the courage and fortitude shown in order to achieve the ideals of the society, and the light is a beacon for Oracle members in the future. The olive branch is the emblem of peace - the talisman for all Oracle members.
