The Peggy R. Williams Award for Academic and Community Leadership recognizes outstanding juniors and seniors who excel in academic performance, perform service to the Ithaca community and beyond, and represent an exemplary level of accomplishment.

Any Ithaca College faculty member, staff member, or student may nominate an outstanding junior or senior for a 2012-2013 Peggy R. Williams Award.  Self-nominations are also accepted.

Nominate a student (or students) before 5:00pm on Friday, November 16. 

All eligible nominees will be sent an application form to complete. Only students who complete the application will be considered.

Pablo Calvi, assistant professor in the Department of Journalism, published a chapter in Global Literary Journalism: Exploring the Journalistic Imagination. The book explores the expanding field of literary journalism, which editors call “disputed terrain.” The book is a collection of writing from more than 20 international academics on a wide range of topics all relating back to literary journalism.

Calvi penned the chapter on Jose Marti, a Cuban national hero and important figure in Latin American literature. The book was released in June 2012 and is available on Amazon.com.

Greetings, jazz fans!

Selecting the winners for the 2012 and 3rd Annual Ithaca College Jazz Composition Competition was particularly challenging this year.  We received a huge number of quality entries from all over the world — quite literally — in both the college/pro category and the  new high school composer category.  Entries were not only compelling musically, but quite varied stylistically.  Pieces were judged completely anonymously; the judges had no knowledge of the identity of the writers.

Mail Services has received a number of weather alerts about service disruptions from the United States Postal Service, DHL and FedEx advising of district office closures, airport closures and to expect delays on shipments sent to the NY Metro area and cities in the states of Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and Massachusetts.
