Coming up are a couple of Faculty Show and Share sessions focusing on how faculty are using Turnitin in their courses.  Turnitin is primarily an online plagiarism detection tool but can also be used to demonstrate proper citing and use of sources. No sign up is required. The location is in the CET (Job 102).

A paper authored by several faculty members and a staff member, describing a three-year , intergenerational Ithaca College service learning project with elders, has received an honorable mention award from the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) and will be recognized at the AGHE’s 38th annual meeting in Arlington, Virginia, Feb. 23-26.

Relay For Life is the biggest fundraiser in the WORLD.  It is the fight against cancer.

Every year, colleges, universities, and communities across the country (and now in other countries, as well!) host an unforgettable overnight event that takes place around a track.  Caregivers, cancer survivors--anyone who has been affected by cancer either directly or indirectly join together in teams to support the American Cancer Society in the race for a cure.  All night there are fun activities, fundraisers, and performances around the track.  Some people come for just a few hours and others stay all night.

It is already the time of year to be thinking about Commencement.  Your help is requested to serve as a Field Attendant for the College’s upcoming Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 20, 2012.

Your help is necessary to ensure that the ceremony is carried out in an orderly manner.  Responsibilities for Field Attendants include managing the on field student seating and maintaining order. Many of us have played an important role during the 2012 graduates’ experience at Ithaca College and this is one more opportunity to do so again.

Refreshments will be provided and non-exempt employees who assist during the ceremony will be paid according to the College overtime policy.

Pianist Mia Hynes of the University of Central Missouri is visiting Ithaca College February 23-24 as a guest of the IC Collegiate Chapter of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Dr. Hynes made her professional debut with the Indianapolis Symphony at age 12. She has earned degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Indiana University and has studied with Menahem Pressler, Nelita True, and Leonard Hokanson. She also took first prize in the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Awards in 1995.
