The PT Club's 4th annual Bomber Blitz 5k Walk/Run is on Sunday, November 6th!! All money raised will go towards Push to Walk, a non-profit organization helping individuals with spinal cord injury and paralysis realize their individual potential! Pre-registration is due TOMORROW, OCTOBER 14TH! Pick up, and drop off completed registration forms at the PT Department Office located in 335 Smiddy Hall. Pre-registration is $10 and includes a FREE T-SHIRT and FOOD after the race! Register after October 14th and receive FREE FOOD after the race!

Participants viewed segments of presentations together along with a panel of neuroscientists and a scholar of Buddhist philosophy from local universities.  Participants had the opportunity to ask questions to clarify their understanding on topics covered in the Mind and Life talks as well as gained related information from other resources. The spirit of these sessions was intended to deepen learning, understanding, and dialogue on these topics rather than foment debate or critiques of different views.

The Sustainability Café on Monday, October 17th will feature Michael Carey, speaking on “Saving Alaska's Wilderness: The Creation of the Arctic National Wildlife Range.”  Mr. Carey's appearance is part of the History Department's Perspectives on History Lecture series with Environmental Studies and Sciences as a co-sponsor. This Sustainability Café is also being held in conjunction with the Environmental Seminar. This talk will be held in Textor Hall Room 101 at 4:00PM (note room change from earlier post).

The final phase of the School of Music's web streaming project was successfully realized with the airing of the October 5th Concert Band performance.  Using the new, high-definition cameras with remote control capabilities in Ford Hall, more than 150 people enjoyed the event virtually.

The next concert to be streamed live is the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble, on October 13th at 8:15pm.

Visitors from Chengdu Sport University will offer Tai Chi demonstrations.

A 10-person delegation of administrators, faculty and students from China’s Chengdu Sport University will celebrate the upcoming dedication of Ithaca College’s Athletics and Events Center by offering three demonstrations of martial arts that include Tai Chi, a traditional Chinese exercise regimen of gentle, flowing movements proven to benefit the health of people of all ages. Joining the instructors will be Ithaca College students who studied at Chengdu Sport University during their study abroad experiences.

In the spring of 2011, 1222 IC students completed a National Collegiate Health Assessment survey.

78% (935) students said they would seek help from a mental health professional if he or she had a personal problem that bothered him or her.  22% (270) students said they would not.

Most of your friends support seeking mental health care when needed.

As part of our current focus on health care, IC Human Rights Co-President Lillie Fleshler ('13) will be talking about her experience abroad last semester in Vietnam, where she worked for a small grassroots non-profit community support group called Smile Group Friends of Thay Hung.
