The American Prize is pleased to announce the following 2011 Awards:

  • Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra, led by Jeffery Meyer, director of orchestras, has achieved third place nationally in The American Prize in Orchestral Performance (college/university orchestra division), 2011.
  • Jeffery Meyer, director of orchestras at Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY, has achieved second place nationally in The American Prize in Conducting (college/university orchestra division), 2011.
  • Jeffery Meyer, director of orchestral activities of the Ithaca College Orchestras, Ithaca, NY has achieved third place in The American Prize in Orchestral Programming—Vytautas Marijosius Memorial Award competition in 2011.

College business mail will not be collected or delivered today.  Departments that need mail sent out should bring it to the Mail Center before 3:15pm.

Depending on when the mail couriers arrive, we will attempt to deliver packages this afternoon.

We will keep our scheduled afternoon collection run at Phillips Hall, the PRW building and Alumni Hall.

Please help the families of Schoharie County by donating to one of the collection bins located in the Campus Center lobby and the Hill Center 1st floor. Many of the residence of this county, located 30 miles west of Albany are left with nothing as a result of Hurricane Irene.  They are in need of the following items:  Personal hygiene, diapers, canned instant formula, cleaning supplies (e.g. bleach, buckets, heavy duty garbage bags), non-perishable food items.

The Ithaca College Chapter of Food for Thought is hosting Ithaca's 2nd Walk for Plumpy'nut on October 8, 2011 at Cass Park. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the 5k walk begins at 11 a.m.

All proceeds from the walk will be used to purchase packets of Plumpy'nut for Concern Worldwide's feeding centers in Ethiopia. Plumpy'nut is a therapeutic food that is used to save severely malnourished children.

This prestigious award will be presented on Saturday evening, October 1, 2011 at the ALANA Academic Achievement Awards Banquet at 6pm in Emerson Suites.

Submit your recommendation to aes@ithaca.edu by THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th, 2011. 

Include a list of the nominee's activities and a brief letter of nomination.  Graduate students are eligible.  AWARDEE will be given a prestigious trophy at the banquet and a $100 book award for the Ithaca College bookstore at the beginning of Spring 2012.
