Want to study school reform in the center of educational change in the U.S.?

Professor Peter Martin, Department of Education, is planning a one-week, one-credit summer course in Washington, DC that will focus on urban educational reform initiatives.

Email Professor Martin for more information and to register for this 1-credit, 5-day study away program to Washington, D.C. 

Tuition is $1,008 and includes four nights of lodging and metro travel while in DC. Undergraduate and graduate credits are available.

The Ithaca College Environmental Society (ICES) will be hosting a meeting this Thursday, March 24th at 6pm in Textor 101 to discuss our plans for Power Shift 2011.  (This will be in place of our regular meetings, which are Thursday at 7pm in Friends 209.)

You'll hear from students who attended Power Shift 2009 to get an idea of what the conference is really like. We'll also be talking logistics at this important meeting, so everyone who will be going to the conference or who is interested in going is STRONGLY urged to attend!

Ithaca College International Club is proud to present that this Wednesday, March 23, 6:30pm in Friends 210, Kiran Nagarkar will be reading excerpts from his highly controversial, formally unpublished play Bedtime Story. Bedtime Story is loosely based on the Mahabharata and has been considered dangerous enough to be the object of censorship.

Kiran Nagarkar is a notable novelist, playwright, critic, and screenwriter. He is currently a Visiting Fulbright Scholar teaching for the Ithaca College Honors Program. Writing in both Marathi and English, he is widely considered to be one of the most significant writers in postcolonial India, having been awarded the subcontinent’s most prestigious literary prizes.

 

Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among American men and women, despite the fact it is one of the more preventable and curable forms of cancer. Colorectal tumors are often “silent tumors”, with little to no noticeable symptoms until the disease is in the advanced stages. This is why it is important to be educated about Colorectal Cancer prevention and screening methods.

Zillah Eisenstein of the Dept. of Politics made concluding comments in response to talks by Nawal el Saadawi and Fawzia Afzal-Khan at the Brecht Forum, March 11, 2011 in the discussion "Revolutionary Women, Dissident Voices from Egypt and Pakistan".  The session was a part of the ongoing dialogue about revolutionary movements in Tunisia, Libya, Yemen, and Egypt.
