Charlotte Hyman, Class of 2011, made it as a finalist for the PRWeek Student of the Year Award that is sponsored by Hill & Knowlton. She will be one of five nationwide finalists who will be presenting their PR proposals and responding to a crisis communications scenario to eight judges in New York City on January 25.

Stephen Tropiano, Los Angeles Program director and associate professor in the Department of Television-Radio, has been appointed by John Shaffner, president of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, to co-chair the Governors Awards Committee for the 2011 Emmys. 

The Governors Award is presented each year to one or more individuals, companies, or organizations for outstanding achievement in the arts and sciences or management of television.  Tropiano is also currently serving on the selection committee for the 4th Annual “Television Academy Honors,” which recognizes “television with a conscience”---programming that inspires, informs, motivates, and even has the power to change people’s lives.

Four student teams from the Park School of Communications submitted their projects for presentation at National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). All four were accepted. The students conducted their research as part of the Critical Issues course (STCM 45000) offered in the Department of Strategic Communication.

NCUR brings together young scholars from a wide variety of higher education institutions presenting on a diverse set of topics. The conference has thousands of students and their faculty mentors presenting their research. The STCM faculty are very proud of these students, especially Dr. Gordon Rowland who taught and advised these students in the Critical Issues course. Congratulations to:

The first week of sessions of the Student Leadership Institute (SLI) for Spring 2011 are now posted -- register NOW for the sessions that you plan to attend!  The full listing of Block III sessions will be posted on Monday, January 24.

The Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is a series of free, interactive workshops designed to help students develop and refine personal leadership skills. As an Ithaca College student, you may choose to attend any session that interests you, or take part in a series of six sessions to earn an SLI certificate. Certificates recognize students who invest time and energy into developing their leadership knowledge and skills.

Don’t be in the line that stretches past the Bookstore on your first day of classes! 

The Phillips Hall Post Office and the Mail Center will be open Saturday and Sunday for package pick up from 10:45am – 4:30pm. 

As of Tuesday afternoon, we have received and sent emails for over 1100 student packages and are adding 300 each day to this amount. 

Empty your mail box!  We have been sorting mail that has arrived since you left in December.  Make room for this semester's mail.

Mail rooms will open Monday, 1/24, on the same schedule as last semester.
