Here's a chance to find out! We are looking for healthy infants who will be six to eight months of age in the interval between October 1 and February 1 to help us test a mobile robot that babies will “drive” by moving their bodies.

Instructors teaching Spring 2011 classes with a community engagement component are invited to include, in the early weeks of the course, a set of learning experiences created and run by community leaders and experienced IC faculty. These course modules are part of a pilot project, funded by the Partnerships for Sustainability Education, to help students work respectfully and effectively with community organizations serving low-income residents and communities of color.

Faculty and students from HSHP and H&S are engaged in ground-breaking robotic research with a goal to provide mobility to infants and very young children with disabilities. Dr. Sharon Stansfield, Associate Professor in Computer Science, Dr. Carole Dennis, Associate Professor in Occupational Therapy, and Dr. Helene Larin Associate Professor in Physical Therapy are working with students in Occupational Therapy on developing different ways for infants to control two Pioneer 3 DX robots.
