Extramural (non degree) student registration begins today (August 25), and runs through Wednesday, September 1.

All staff and faculty who are not matriculated in a degree program (but have approval to take a course at IC for fall 2010) can submit their forms to the Graduate and Professional Studies office in Peggy Ryan Williams Center. Someone will be available to accept your registration form in person between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., or anytime during the registration period via email at jwofford@ithaca.edu, or via fax at 4-1263. Enrollment is on a space available basis. See the GPS website (Nondegree Students) for more information on nondegree student registration.

WICB and VIC were nominated for several awards in the Collegiate Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) student production competition. Winners will be announced at the National Student Media Convention in Louisville, Oct. 27-31.

The stations were nominated for:

The School of Humanities and Sciences and the Department of Writing are pleased to welcome Pulitzer Prize winner in fiction Jeffrey Eugenides, acclaimed essayist Paisley Rekdal, and National Book Critics Circle Award finalist in poetry Matthea Harvey as part of this semester’s Distinguished Visiting Writers Series. They will be reading at 7:30pm on September 7th, October 5th, and October 27th, respectively. The readings are free and open to the public.

Calling All Musicians!

Have you been wanting to play in orchestra since coming to college, but haven’t had time or the opportunity?

The Ithaca College Sinfonietta is an orchestra ensemble open to all Ithaca College and Cornell students. All string, wind, brass, and percussion players, both music majors and non-music majors, are encouraged to join-no audition is required.

There will be one concert each semester, and rehearsals will be held weekly on Mondays from 6 to 7:50 pm in Presser rehearsal hall at the Whalen Center for Music on Ithaca College Campus.

Our first meeting is on August 30, 2010.

ABSTRACT:

A survey was presented to members of the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN) to get a better idea of how neuroscience research and education is being delivered at the undergraduate level. A total of 155 individuals completed the survey, with 118 coming from faculty at traditional PUIs (primarily undergraduate institutions) and 37 from faculty at doctoral-granting institutions.
