On Friday, October 18th, Professor Haefeli (Music History) will present at the University of Maryland's Musicology Colloquium. 

The years 1967–69 were important for the composer John Cage as his musical aesthetics and political philosophy shifted in significant ways during this time.

Based on a comprehensive study of Cage’s letters and ephemera, Haefeli claims that Cage’s work turned away from the more radical actions of the early 1960s to more traditionally conceived and composed music, poetry, and art by the end of the decade.

 As previously communicated, Ithaca College will implement a change to the current Paid Time Away (PTA) Policy beginning June 1, 2020. Until the new policy goes into effect on June 1, 2020, all new benefit-eligible staff will continue to have vacation, sick, and personal leave PTA front-loaded in accordance with current policy.

This year, new hire sessions will continue to be held every other Monday morning October 28 through November 11 (coinciding with the beginning of bi-weekly pay periods).  We will not be holding a session on Monday, November 25, as that is the week of Thanksgiving.  Instead, we will hold a session Monday, December 2, which will be the last session for the year.

  • BASICS (Balancing Alcohol & Substance Use To Improve College Success). BASICS involves nonjudgmental, in-person sessions to explore your use pattern and identify strategies for change. Meetings are free and confidential.
  • THRIVE Wellness Coaching. Wellness coaching sessions are similar to BASICS, with an exploration of strategies to address the many dimensions of wellness. Topics for conversation may include sleep, eating well, stress management, and others.
  • Pick up a free Quit Kit in our Health Promotion Resource Room.

Become a President’s Fellow

The application window for the 2020-21 cohort of President’s Fellows is now open! Six people—two faculty, two staff, and two students—will be selected for this program, which is designed to take participants out of their regular work or academic environments to develop their leadership skills and pursue an area of interest within a cohort-based context.

October 15 is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD), a national community mobilization and social marketing campaign to raise HIV awareness and promote HIV testing, prevention and education. 

This year’s theme, “We're fighting this together,” integrates efforts on raising HIV/AIDS awareness, promotion of HIV testing, prevention and education.

For resources and information, visit the National Latino AIDS Awareness Day website. HIV/AIDS resources are also available for the campus community. Additional information, supplies, resources and referral can also be obtained through several campus offices, including the Resource Rooms of the Center for Health Promotion and the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach & Services.

In today's complex media world of "fake" news and social media feeds, it is crucial for all students to develop the ability to analyze, evaluate and create media messages in multiple forms.

Keep in mind when registering for spring 2020 classes, if the class is full use the Waitlist feature.

·         When a seat opens up in a waitlisted course, the 1st student on waitlist will receive an email notification to register for the course.

·         The notice will expire in 24 hours (during add/drop week the notice will expire in 12 hours).

·         View the Student Waitlist Guide for more information on how to use waitlist.

·         The Capacity Override form is no longer available in IC Workflow, Waitlist has replaced it.
