The Reggie Simmons '75 Memorial Award Informational Meeting
Come meet last year's recipients and learn about their experience in Africa

Interested students are encouraged (but not required) to attend.

The Reggie Simmons Memorial Award will recognize the extraordinary accomplishments and contributions of Reginald Leigh Simmons, Ph.D. Simmons ’75 devoted his life to the people of Africa and this memorial award will provide the opportunity for two students with majors in the Park School of Communications or politics to follow in Simmons' footsteps.

Please note: Graduating seniors are not eligible.

The 2010 Operation Crossroads Africa program runs June 15-August 10. Projects are scheduled for the following countries: Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Benin, Niger, Senegal and Togo.

An upcoming performance on Thursday, December 3 at 7 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall will mark the 200 year anniversary of the death of Joseph Haydn and the birth of Felix Mendelssohn.  Music School faculty members Charis Dimaras, piano; Dawn Pierce, mezzo-soprano; Nicholas DiEugenio, violin; and Elizabeth Simkin, cello will perform. The program will include a piano sonata and cantata for voice and piano by Haydn and a trio for violin, cello, and piano by Mendelssohn.

Getting hands-on experience is an important part of your college career and the new "Class of 2008 Internship Scholarship" can help make that experience financially possible for you.

We are ready for the next stage of implementing the Faculty Commons. This is the model for faculty development at Ithaca College that was developed during 2008-09 by Susanne Morgan and a group of faculty members, was endorsed by the Faculty Development Committee and accepted by the Provost and President. It features a structure linking the varieties of faculty development activities that exist through designated Affiliates who connect with the Faculty Commons as part of their normal job or committee work. It also features a blended face to face and online environment that will be part of the myHome structure that the college has developed. An update and next steps meeting is scheduled on Friday December 4, 1:30-2:30 in the DeMotte Room of the Campus Center.
