Directed by Professor Dana Wilson, this year's theme is "To Dream, Perchance to Hope ... " and features the wind ensemble, choir, marimba band, jazz workshop, and soloists in an exciting and entertaining one-hour program.

With the recent addition of both the Peggy Ryan Williams Center and Park Center for Business and Sustainable Enterprise, I thought it would be helpful to remind the campus community of the College's smoking policy and its designated outdoor smoking areas. 

It is important to remind everyone that the State of New York prohibits smoking in the public areas of all buildings within the state. As such Ithaca College has an established Smoking Policy (2.8.10) that directly addresses this for the campus community and provides a listing of the designated outdoor smoking areas.

The Partnership for Sustainability Education (PSE), an educational collaboration between Ithaca College and the EcoVillage at Ithaca, is pleased to announce five mini-grant awards to members of the IC and EcoVillage communities. These grants will support summer and fall 2009 initiatives that incorporate economic, environmental, and/or social sustainability into curriculum development.

Finals are done, and Commencement isn't for a week. Come spend some time with friends and enjoy a lunch buffet at the Tower Club where you can see the sights of Ithaca one last time before you embark on the next chapter in your lives. The Tower Club Restaurant will offer lunch buffets from Monday, May 11th-Friday, May 15th during senior week. Seating will be available from 11:30a.m.-1:30p.m.

Ten years and still going strong!  The Ithaca College Lecture Series, which began in spring 1999, is an integral part of IC's partnership with Longview, a retirement community located on Danby Road.

Both the men's and women's tennis teams will be competing in the NCAA championship tournament this weekend. The women's team is in the NCAA playoffs for the third year in a row, while the men's team is making its second appearance in three seasons.

Peter Kilcoyne, manager of printing services, recently completed training that certified him for Best Practices for Sustainability in Print. Awarded by Print Communications Professionals International (PCPI), the certification meshes with the College's stand on sustainable practices in all its operations.

Phoebe Constantinou, assistant professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, along with Mara Manson of Adelphi University and Steve Silverman of Teachers College at Columbia University, recently published an article entitled, "Female Students' Perceptions about Gender-Role Stereotypes and Their Influence on Attitude toward Physical Education," in The Physical Educator (volume 66, number 2, pages 85-96).

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, also known as National Nurses Day, through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. This year, the American Nurses Association has chosen the theme, "Nurses: Building a Healthy America," to reflect the commitment nurses make every day in building a healthy America for the public they serve.
