The Ithaca College Choir and Madrigal Singers will present their final free concert of the year on Saturday, April 25, at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. 

The Madrigals portion of the program, led by Lawrence Doebler, is entitled "Madrigals Do Monteverdi, Monteverdi Does Love!" The Choir's portion of the program will be conducted by graduate conductor Ana Withiam and will include music of Bach, Brahms, Basler, Passereau, Whitacre, Golovanov, Holst, and Hall Johnson.

Congrats to Brian Hulslander (Campus Center), Terri Rooman (Sub Connection), and Mike Caccia (Food Court) for being nominated for a Circle of Customer Excellence Award for Ithaca College during the month of April!

Dianne Lynch, who has served since 2004 as dean of the Roy H. Park School of Communications, has accepted an offer to become the 24th president of Stephens College. Located in Columbia, Missouri, Stephens College was founded in 1833 and is the second-oldest women's college in the nation. Lynch will take office on June 2.

Assistant professor of psychology Jeffrey Holmes published an article, entitled "Religiosity, Meaning in Life, and Clinical Symptomotology: A Comparison of African-American and European-American College Students." The research appeared in the most recent issue of the Journal of College Student Psychotherapy.

On Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., the student teams in Michael Smith's Environmental History class will present their local environmental history research projects at the History Center in Ithaca.

This semester, the student research projects include an examination of the 1903 typhoid epidemic in Ithaca, a study of the transformation of the wetlands around Cayuga Lake, and a study of the environmental transformations involved in moving Ithaca College from downtown to South Hill.

On Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Handwerker Gallery, the On the Verge playreading series will present a staged reading of J.M. Synge's The Playboy of the Western World.  The cast will feature Ithaca College students from both the theater arts and English departments, as well as two English department faculty members (Professors Kevin Murphy and Michael Twomey), and it will be directed by Claire Gleitman, also a faculty member in English.

Department of Management chairman Mark Cordano will serve as interim dean of the Ithaca College School of Business beginning June 1. A search is currently underway for a successor to Dean Susan West Engelkemeyer, who has accepted an offer to become dean of the Charlton College of Business at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

As a result of the move of the Office of Financial Aid to the Peggy Ryan Williams Center, the third floor of the Campus Center will be renovated this summer. 

In preparation for the renovation, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life will be moving temmporarily to the Administration Annex (adjacent to the Park School of Communications) beginning Wednesday, April 22.
