The Ithaca College Choir, conducted by Lawrence Doebler, will perform the world premiere of “Confederate Soldier’s Prayer” by Gary Schocker at the 28th annual Choral Composition Contest and Festival on Saturday, November 10. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Ford Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music, the free event will also feature six high school choirs, each performing pieces chosen as finalists in a national competition of newly composed works.
Flutist Wendy Herbener Mehne will present a free flute recital on Sunday, November 11, at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. Mehne, a professor of music performance in the School of Music, will be joined by pianist Diane Birr and clarinetist Michael Galván in a program of Hungarian and gypsy music.
Thursday, November 15
The Offices of Residential Life and Judicial Affairs recently unveiled their new master plan. This plan will guide their staff through the next five to seven years in their work to further improve the services and opportunities they offer our residential students. We were delighted to discover that an entire section of their new plan focuses on sustainability. 
Thursday, November 15, is the Great American Smokeout. More people quit on the Smokeout than any other day of the year. You, too, can be a quitter!
On Monday, November 12, at 4:00 p.m. in Friends 201, the Sustainability Café topic will be "Northeast Climate Change and the future for our farms, gardens, and natural landscape," presented by David Wolfe, professor of plant ecology with the Department of Horticulture at Cornell University.
