Ithaca College

Assistant Professor Tom Nicholson, Television-Radio, worked on the upcoming two-hour documentary "The Gold Rush." The show will air Monday, November 6 at 9 p.m. on PBS.

Nicholson served as an editorial consultant on research, script development, and editing for director Randall MacLowry. He also recorded background dialogue and sound effects for the project. The documentary covering the tumultuous California gold rush is narrated by Michael Murphy and includes interviews with writer Isabel Allende, Professor of Native American Studies Frank LaPena, and eleven historians including J.S. Holliday.

Deborah Montgomery-Cove, a professor of music performance at the Ithaca College School of Music, will present a free evening exploring the music of Poulenc on Sunday, November 5 at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. Pianist Charis Dimaras will collaborate.

The Shuhan Duo--flutist Elizabeth Shuhan and Alex Shuhan playing the French horn--will be joined by pianist Jennifer Hayghe for a free recital entitled “Sonatas, Musings, and Trios” on Thursday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. Their program includes a trio by Madeline Dring, “Musings for Horn and Piano” by IC faculty composer Dana Wilson, Prokofiev’s flute sonata, and duos by Johannes Brahms.

We are pleased to update you on Ithaca College’s participation in Emeriti Retirement Health Solutions. The College joins with 40 other colleges and universities in this higher education consortium providing unique, affordable, sustainable, and quality solutions to the important issues surrounding retiree health care. In the first stage of implementation eligible retirees who are 65 and over have the option this fall of enrolling in one of the Emeriti retiree medical plan options for coverage effective January 1, 2007. As we move forward through several stages of implementation of this new plan, we encourage both active faculty and staff members and retirees to learn about this new benefit by reading the communications, attending informational meetings, and taking advantage of informational resources through the Emeriti call center and website.

On Halloween – Tuesday, October 31st from 5pm-7pm, Ithaca College is hosting its first annual Trick Or Eat!: A trick or treat for hunger.

We are looking for volunteers that are willing to canvas assigned areas on the South Hill, collecting canned food from local residents. The donations will be given to a local soup kitchen. We are also looking for volunteers who are willing to drive, and pick up the collected food from students in the neighborhood and bring it back to IC.
