Just what IS a "silent auction?" Isn't the purpose of an auction to hoot and holler and make yourself known? A silent auction is an event where all the merchandise is beautifully displayed for your viewing pleasure. Beside each item is a bidding sheet, and hopeful bidders put their bidding number on the sheet along with their bid. Putting your first one on is the easy part...the tricky part is circling around like a buzzard, keeping an eye on your item while cleverly disguising the fact from your friends that YOU are that #24 who keeps increasing the bids! At noon the bidding will be over, and the last number and bid will be circled, making all that milling around a successful mission! The application deadline has been extended for the new employment opportunity in the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement and the Office of First Year Programs and Orientation. Candidates selected for the position will serve as student leadership consultants for the 2006-07 academic year.
Tenor David Parks and pianist Rebekah Jordan-Miller will present a free recital of the songs of Richard Hundley on Sunday, March 26, at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. The recital is part of a series of performances of the songs in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Canada, which will be followed by recording them for CD release. It was originally scheduled for March 13, but was postponed due to illness.
