The informal education and support group for employees dealing with caregiving issues shares information and support, and periodically invites a speaker on pertinent topics.

Whitehead has been chosen to present a session at the 2005 Eastern Division Conference of MENC: The National Association for Music Education, which takes place March 3-6 in Baltimore, Maryland. The topic of the session is "Children of the World: A Look at Multicultural Music for the Elementary Classroom."

Protestant Chaplain to Retire

The Rev. Allison Stokes, Ph.D., the Ithaca College Protestant chaplain, will retire at the close of this academic year in May. Allison will be focusing her time and energies on writing projects and on developing the Women's Interfaith Institute in Seneca Falls, a nonprofit organization where she is founding director.

The Ithaca College Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Grogan, will present a free concert on Wednesday, March 2, at 8:15 in Ford Hall. Two works of Mozart, the overture to The Magic Flute, and the Symphony No. 35, will be joined by a work from 2002 composed by School of Music faculty member Dana Wilson.

Gordon Webb, assistant professor in the television-radio department, won an award of excellence in the faculty audio competition at the 2005 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts competition. Webb will be honored at the association’s annual conference in Las Vegas in April.

Mona Lake Jones -- a Seattle poet laureate, educator, and community activist -- will use her own poetry, experience, and insight to present information about the positive effects of cultural affirmation on the achievement of Black youth. She will especially examine the relationship between how Black youth feel about themselves and the nature of the learning environments in which they are expected to perform.
