Stacy Landau, a senior occupational therapy student, has been elected to represent the Assembly of Student Delegates (ASD) for 2004-06 on the Commission on Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association. She is the first Ithaca College OT student to hold such an office!

Each year the Center for Teacher Education publishes the Partnership in Teaching booklet. The booklet is a registry of Ithaca College "partners," which lists areas of faculty and staff expertise and indicates the type of presentations available to local schools.

I am pleased to announce to the campus community that President Williams has selected Living Downstream, by the College's Distinguished Visiting Scholar Sandra Steingraber, as our 2004 text for the First Year Reading Initiative.

Living Downstream is an important interdisciplinary contribution to our understanding of the critical relationship between the environment and human health. The choice of this year's book underscores the College's commitment to fostering "an awareness of, appreciation of, and respect for our physical environment" and sharing "the responsibilities of citizenship and service in the global community," as called for in the Institutional Plan.

The Ithaca College Student Employment Office is preparing its seventh annual celebration of National Student Employment Week. The National Student Employment Association (NSEA) has declared that the second complete week in April each year be set aside to recognize the value of student employees and student employment professionals.

A total of 90 Ithaca athletes have been named to the Empire 8 Presidents' List for the fall 2003 semester. In addition, 10 Ithaca teams received Empire 8 Team GPA awards. Both honors herald academic achievement by student-athletes within the conference.
