Ithaca College finished in ninth place in the final standings for the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Directors' Cup standings. The Directors’ Cup standings are determined by a school’s finish in NCAA playoff competition in selected sports.

Booming sounds Wednesday afternoon (July 2) from South Hill will be the all-clear signal for the 56th annual Ithaca Community Fireworks Show. Beginning at 2 p.m., an aerial salute that can be heard for miles around will be fired every hour on the hour by fireworks technicians as a reminder that the show is a "go."

Ryan Crawford of the Ithaca College men's lacrosse team has been named an NCAA postgraduate scholarship finalist. Crawford, who graduated in May after earning three letters as a midfielder, is one of 68 finalists for the award, and one of just 21 Division III athletes.

New Book by John A. Krout

John A. Krout, Ph.D., professor and director of the Ithaca College Gerontology Institute, and Elaine Wethington, Ph.D., codirector of the Cornell Gerontology Research Institute coedited a book on the Pathways to Life Quality research project. Springer Publishing Company in New York City just published the book which is titled, Residential Choice and Experiences of Older Adults: Pathways to Life Quality.

Free TCAT Bus to Fireworks

TCAT will provide free bus service between downtown and Ithaca College for the Community Fireworks Show on Wednesday night, July 2. This is the seventh year that TCAT has offered the service.

Women of Distinction Award

Asma Barlas, associate professor and chair of the politics department, was recognized by the State Senate of New York as a "Woman of Distinction" for 2003 (district 53). Senator Randy Kuhl Jr. presented a certificate and proclamation to this effect at a reception in Albany on June 3.
