The Division of College Communications has been working for the past year to select and implement a new digital asset management (DAM) system for the college. At the end of the spring 2019 semester, we will have transitioned away from our current digital asset management system, Cumulus. All existing and future digital assets will be available only on the new system, Widen. Please note that once Widen is fully introduced in May, Cumulus will no longer be accessible.

The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen series at Ithaca College will show the documentary “Vito” on Tuesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. in Textor 103. The screening is free and open to the public.

Film student Vito Russo was among the crowd that fought back against the police raid of the Stonewall Inn in 1969. He would go on to become one of the most outspoken and inspiring activists in the LGBT community’s fight for equal rights. His book The Celluloid Closet explored the ways gays and lesbians were portrayed on film. He also traveled to gay film festivals and college campuses with his entertaining and informative lecture/clip show on media representation and homophobia.

Ithaca College President Emerita Dr. Peggy Ryan Williams, former Lyndon State College president and Vermont State Colleges System (VSCS) administrator, has been awarded the status of president emerita of the college by the VSCS Board of Trustees.

Associate Professor Scott Hamula, IMC Program Director, will be participating as a jury member for this year's Young Ones Student Awards in the “Brief” category competition.

The Young Ones Student Awards is one of the world’s most acclaimed competitive showcases for advertising, digital communication, and design students.

This year's students are tasked with developing advertising campaigns for clients that include: Avery Dennison, Brooks, Il Makiage, Budweiser, The New York Times, Burger King, Kraft, and Dove Men+Care. Submissions are judged on creativity and originality.

Winners of the brief competition are invited to attend the Young Ones Education Festival and Awards Ceremony in NYC during Creative Week, May 6–10, 2019 where they will be awarded One Show Pencils.

Kristina Shanton, Music Librarian, has published a chapter in a new book devoted to engagement between librarians, students, and faculty. Her chapter is titled, "The Importance of Fostering Strong Relationships with Faculty and Students." The book, edited by Scott Stone, is titled Outreach for Music Librarians and is published by A-R Editions.
