Hi, my name is Sue-Je Gage, Associate Professor at Ithaca College. I am recruiting faculty members without supervisory roles from across campus to participate in a study on how conflicts are addressed and resolved on campus. The goal of this study is to create a conflict resolution map for our campus to better help our campus community members understand where they can go to address conflicts. The study involves conducting focus group interviews of about 6-10 members for each of the three constituent groups: faculty, staff and students. The screening is free and open to the public. The film tells the story of Brooke Guinan, the first openly transgender firefighter in New York City. A third- generation firefighter, Brooke has a passion for heroism that runs in her blood. When she transitions, it poses a challenge to a macho profession and to her family. Brooke and her boyfriend, an Air Force veteran, realize that having the life they want means being vulnerable in the face of judgment. “Woman on Fire” is a heartfelt portrait of change in the American family and workplace, and a testament to love, courage and loyalty.
