Come support the men's and women's track and field teams this weekend (2/2-2/3),  as they dedicate their meet to Ithaca College Unites for HER, an organization that works to raise money to provide complementary services to those diagnosed with breast cancer in the Ithaca College community! There will be a showing of the film, “The Nuns, the Priests and the Bomb,” at the Cinemapolis movie theater, 120 E Green St, Sunday, February 3, 2:00. The film is a documentary about nuclear disarmament activists who broke into two top-secret nuclear weapons facilities in 2009 and 2012, seeing their non-violent actions as a means to move the world away from the brink of nuclear war.

 As announced in December, Ithaca College has received a gift from The Lissy Family Foundation to build a food pantry on campus to provide support to our students, faculty and staff.

This new food pantry will be located in the DeMotte Room on the lower level of the Campus Center.  We now need the assistance and generosity of everyone on campus to help us fill that space with food.  We anticipate our initial opening to be during the second week of February 2019.

The University of Texas press has released a second, revised, edition of Believing Women in Islam: Unreading Patriarchal Interpretations of the Qur'an, by Asma Barlas, professor of Politics, along with a monograph, A Brief Introduction to Believing Women in Islam, co-authored with David R. Finn. A Canadian philosopher who developed an interest in Barlas's liberatory hermeneutics of Islam's scripture, Finn undertook to "translate" it into simple language for non-academic readers.

Ithaca College faculty and staff members are invited to attend the men’s and women’s basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 and 4 p.m. inside Ben Light Gymnasium for Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.
