"Rising" is a poetic documentary short evoking the Bali Hindu religion honoring fire, water and air. These reflect the three Tri Hita Karana philosophy for well-being on Bali -- harmony among people, harmony with nature, harmony with God. Mara is currently in Bali continuing her research on water rituals in religions and daily life. Ethnografilm accepts non-fiction film genres that promote the systematic understanding of the social world through film. Marked by its contemporary relevance and broad intellectual range, the purpose of Ethnografilm is to understand society, culture, and social issues. The festival serves as a showcase and forum for dialog between independent and academic filmmakers. It screens in Paris, Africa, Asia, and New Orleans. The festival is co-sponsored by the International Social Science Council (ISSC) and the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) and collaborates with the University Film and Video Association. Also shared was an FAQ document that outlines the feedback the Shared Governance Task Force received following the release of the initial draft in the Fall. An anonymous survey link was also provided for campus community members to provide the task force with feedback on the updated draft. The survey will close on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11:59 pm. Among her many professional experiences and accomplishments, she was Executive Producer of the Late Show with David Letterman, and worked for Letterman for 35 years and over 6,028 episodes, beginning with his morning show in 1980. In her nineteen years as a producer for the Late Show, she received fourteen Emmy nominations and won five Emmy Awards. Gaines and her wife of 24 years were married by Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum in 1993 and wed legally in San Francisco in 2008. They have a 10-year-old son. Their mission statement is to help fight against cancer through grassroots advocacy, prevention and early detection education, Relay for Life and many other activities honoring cancer survivors. Colleges Against Cancer, or CAC, also promotes the Great American Smoke-out (quitting smoking), breast cancer awareness, sun safety, and healthy lifestyle choices within the Ithaca community.
