Face Mask for Students

Face masks for students who are living on or near campus are available 24/7 in the Public Safety lobby, and students who reside off campus in the South Hill area can have them delivered once per week by emailing their request to publicsafety@ithaca.edu. The off-campus deliveries are pretty popular, and the officers enjoy supporting and connecting with students!

 Ithaca College Crew offers newcomers a chance to learn rowing and joining the novice crew.  The men's and women's teams seek athletes to try-out for rowing.  We will have a Zoom room in the Student Activities Organizational Fair next Wednesday, August 12, 8:00 - 10:00 pm.

Ithaca College has been organizing virtual spaces for faculty, staff, and students to gather and reflect on the current and ongoing race relations in the United States. These spaces are designed for white-identified students to understand systemic racism in order to dismantle it, and to understand their role in anti-racist work.

NEH Summer Stipends

A panel of the National Advertising Review Board (NARB), a division of BBB National Programs, has recommended that S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. (S.C.Johnson) discontinue the claim “non-toxic” on package labeling for its Windex Vinegar Glass Cleaner. However, the panel determined that a properly qualified non-toxic claim, which clearly and conspicuously discloses the nature of the health risks from product misuse, would be acceptable. The advertising at issue had been challenged by competitor The Procter & Gamble Company (“P&G”) before the National Advertising Division (NAD). Following NAD’s decision (Case No. 6353), S.C. Johnson appealed NAD’s finding on this issue.

The webinar, “Why Virtual Choirs: Philosophies & Pedagogies of Virtual Ensembles,” was held on Monday, August 3.  

The panel included composer Eric Whitacre who created the idea for virtual choirs which turned into a global phenomenon 10 years ago.  He recently completed a virtual choir that included 17,562 singers from 129 countries and was featured on CBS’s “Sunday Morning”.  

The panel also included moderator Joey Martin, and panelists Nicole Aldrich, Jason Max Ferdinand, Janet Galván, and Tesfa Wondemagegnehu.  The panel discussed the pedagogies and philosophies of virtual ensembles.

 

Now that IC has migrated to the new Finance and HR Cloud system, most people will no longer have a need to log into the old Parnassus system.
