Photographic Projects in Italy (Photographic Currents, CPMA 20500 - 3 credits)

This program provides students with an opportunity to continue their study of photography and historical and contemporary art, working in the incomparably rich cultural settings of Rome, Italy.  Program includes an extended trip to the Venice Biennale – the largest and most important international contemporary art exposition in the world.

HPPE undergraduate students Lena Sargenti and Mikaela Suddaby presented at the NYS AHPERD Conference in Verona on November 17, 2016. The presentation was titled "Classroom Activity Breaks: Getting Teachers Onboard."

 

Jason Robert Brown’s heart-wrenching musical, "The Last Five Years" is set to take the Earl McCarroll Studio Theatre stage in Ithaca College’s Dillingham Center. Performances will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 8 pm, Sunday, December 4th at 2 pm and 8 pm, and Monday, December 5th at 8 pm. This production is directed by Adam Lee Secor ‘17 and music directed by Jacob Kerzner ‘19. Tickets are free and can be reserved here. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be advised that demand for tickets to this show is anticipated to be very high.

 David Turkon (Anthropology) and Anita Spring (University of Florida, Gainesville) co-organized a roundtable panel on Sustainable Development Goals entitled, ANTHROPOLOGICAL INTERROGATIONS OF THE UN'S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS. The roundtable was peer reviewed and awarded invited status by the Association for Africanist Anthropology and Culture and Agriculture, both subsections of the AAA. David chaired the panel.

Ithaca, NY—Ithaca College Theatre presents “Winter Bodies,” a dance concert of three original pieces choreographed by faculty members Lindsay Gilmour, Amy Walker O’Brien and Courtney Young. These pieces, in three distinct styles, include an exploration of women’s roles and daily habits, as well as a revisiting of the “Dream Ballet” sequence from Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!”

Dear Ithaca College Community,

After this tumultuous election cycle and year, tensions have heightened nationwide. It should also be noted that this violence is not new but has been present in our national and international sphere since the birth of this nation. With that said, it is important that we institutionally and communally support our students, staff, and faculty. We must support our LGBTQ+, Muslim, and otherwise marginalized communities here on campus, and ensure that the college is a safe and welcoming place, especially when the rest of the world may not be.
