(116 words) Last week, IC Courage hosted a Color Wars dodgeball tournament in the A&E Center to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times, an organization that provides programming for children with cancer. Teams of 5 chose a color and competed in fierce dodgeball matches against each other for ultimate glory! This year marks 10 years for Spit That!, IC’s only spoken word poetry club. This milestone was celebrated last Friday night at Spit That!’s annual showcase. Ten of Spit That!’s dedicated poets prepared and performed poetry at the showcase alongside special guest Jaylene Clark Owens, the woman who founded Spit That! In September 2006. The room was full of emotions as each poet took the floor and wowed the crowd. Congrats on another successful year! College Against Cancer raised over $50,000 for American Cancer SocietyContributed by Theresa Johnson on 05/02/16 Congratulations to Colleges Against Cancer for leading yet another successful Relay for Life at Ithaca College! The event took place this past Saturday, and between online donations, registration for the event, and cash donations made the night of, the student organization was able to raise over $50,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society to be put towards cancer research. The event itself was also a huge success keeping relayers entertained for 12 hours straight with tons of great performances, music, games, and more. (314 words) Important Information Concerning the Upcoming Campus Power ShutdownsContributed by Lynn Hyde on 05/01/16 Entire Campus Power Shutdowns: In order to perform required maintenance and complete upgrades on the campus electrical infrastructure, the Office of Facilities will be conducting two campus wide power shutdowns. Power will be turned off to the entire campus beginning at 6:00am and will be restored in the evening hours when work has been completed (approximately 6:00pm). The dates are as follows. Saturday, June 4, 2016 Intermittent Power Shutdowns: Additionally, several buildings will be without power or on generator back up power at various points during late May and early June.
