Ithaca College and the local Advocacy Center have recently partnered to create a "Peer Educators" program for bystander intervention, a sexual violence prevention strategy based on individuals supporting others who they believe to be at risk.  Rather than education presented by college staff, this program supports the idea that students learning from student peers can lead to a more open and comfortable dialogue.  Typically presented in classes, club meetings, and RA programs, an open session of this program for all campus students will be offered tonight, Wednesday April 27, in the Klingenstein Lounge.  The session will run from 7 to 8 p.m.

HLTH 11000-01. War, Hunger, and Genocide: An International Health Perspective
The primary course topics of war, hunger, and genocide are viewed as interconnected factors.  These are influenced by political, economic, and social conditions within countries as well as by foreign policies and national self-interests that exert power to marginalize groups, commit human rights violations, genocide, and produce poor health outcomes.

Recent and current conflicts placed within a historical context will be the focus of our analysis.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the plight of the poor and other marginalized groups in relation to health and disease. This includes addressing questions of power, morality, and international law such as those promulgated by the United Nations.

This online course is offer during Summer Session II (Jul 05, 2016 - Aug 05, 2016). For more information, contact Stewart Auyash (auyash@ithaca.edu)
