The final Vice President for Enrollment Management candidate will be on campus on Tuesday, April 26.  Members of the campus community are invited to attend an open session, which is scheduled at 12:15 pm in Textor 103.  Materials for the candidate can be found here.

Feedback for all four candidates will be collected via an online evaluation form.  Please provide your feedback no later than close of business on Wednesday, April 27.

The Campus Choral Ensemble and IC voICes will present a joint concert on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 7:00 pm in Ford Hall.  Conducted by Dr. Susan Avery and assistant directors Adam Good and Dr. Laura Amoriello, the concert will offer selections in various genres, including a composition by Ithaca faculty member Carl Johengen.

The Campus Choral Ensemble is a chorus comprised of non-music majors.  IC voICes is a faculty/staff choir.  Selections will be performed by both groups together as well as individually. Please join us for a uplifting evening of music!

Among those featured at the Seventh Annual Spring Writes Literary Festival this
Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1 at downtown venues are many Ithaca College community members.

There are 30 events - workshops, panels, multiple readings, play readings, entertainment, and fun stuff, all held in 10 different locations over the 4 days. All are free except for one event.

Ithaca College Theatre presents John Cariani’s, “Almost, Maine”. Directed by theatre studies major Danica Kelley ‘16, this quirky and fast-paced, one-act play follows the lives of the residents of the small town of Almost, Maine.  67 million people have high blood pressure in America

 What we already knew:

• Risk of CVD (Cardio Vascular Disease) doubles for each incremental increase in SBP of 20 mmHg or DBP of 10 mmHg.
• Aerobic exercise training leads to reduction in resting BP of 5-7 mmHg in those with hypertension.

New studies show:

• Using salt substitutes can decrease blood pressure
• 80% of sodium Americans intake comes from packaged, processed and restaurant foods.
• Home cooking is a great way to control your sodium intake
• Exercise can slow down the inevitable increase in blood pressure as you age.
• Those who have proper protein intake are 40% less likely to develop high blood pressure
• A combination of a high protein and high fiber intake can even lower the risk for hypertension
• Consuming flaxseed daily may help reduce high blood pressure
