Exhibiting artist Sarah Gotowka will give a public lecture on her work in the current exhibition, MAKE DO, contextualizing it within the greater reaches of her practice. Gotowka collaborated with the IC Gardens and Dana Summer Fellow Vin Manta '17 to plant several natural pigment plants over the summer of 2015, the plants of which were harvested with the help of classes from the ICSM program. A dye workshop has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 9, which community members may take part in-- see Intercom for event posting.

Dear campus community,
 
As I write this, the tragic events in Paris and Mali, and the recent loss of our Ithaca College student, Shannon Sakosits, are still fresh on my mind. As a result, I find myself thinking a lot lately about the relationship between losing something or someone that is dear to me and having to live with a new reality. I have lost a number of loved ones during my time here at IC; as I have gained more clarity about my personal and professional life, the realities of loss and change have become more apparent.

IC Asian American Alliance and the Chinese Students and Scholars Association hosted an incredibly well-attended Ramen Night on Thursday, November 19th featuring homemade ramen with all the fixings that you could dream of! The meeting with a meal featured several different types of broth including miso and shio. For many, this was the best ramen they had ever had! This event truly succeeded in exposing the Ithaca College community to Asian and Asian American cultures in a fun activity in a safe and educational environment. Kudos AAA and CSSA!

The Senior Class is at it again! The Seniors truly showed gratitude and bomber spirit in the week leading up to Thanksgiving Break in their “Give Before You Gobble” Thanks-Giving Back Week! The week of volunteer opportunities allowed the Class of 2016 to play bingo with Circle K, volunteer with Loaves & Fishes to feed the greater Ithaca community, make Thanksgiving cards and SunnyGrams, and organize the Tompkins County Public Library! The altruistic spirit is fueling their overall goal of 2,016 volunteer hours before graduation!

Guiding Eyes For the Blind supports the lives of individuals who are blind and visually impaired by raising future Guide Dogs on campus. To help connect their mission with Ithaca College, they held an event featuring a student who lives life with a guide dog on Wednesday, November 18. Tim Conners inspired all who came to the event and put a personality and a face to individuals who utilize guide dogs. Great job Guiding Eyes!

Hi-Fashion Studios held their renowned fashion show on November 19th at 8:00pm in Emerson Suites. The fashion show was themed "Timeless," featuring fashions from past decades- the 20s until today. IC Voicestream and IC Beatbox performed during intermissions. This incredibly well-orchestrated event brought Emerson Suites to a standing ovation. Look out for these trendsetters!

Brothers for Brothers (B4B) is a student organization dedicated to providing a safe space and support system for marginalized men on campus.  B4B welcomes all students on campus who identify as male and incorporates many aspects of community involvement.  They operate on a CAPS system, which stands for community, academic, political, and social.  These are the four major focus areas of B4B: community service, academic commitment, and political and social consciousness.
