Mara Alper was selected to present at the 7th World Water Forum in Korea in April 2015, the world’s largest water related event. She will present her talk “Re-Imagining Water,” with an emphasis on water awareness and education to motivate behavioral changes. It will highlight content from her IC courses “The Power of Water” and ‘Water Planet,” and engage international educators and NGOs in discussions about effective water education approaches.

As described on the organization’s website: “The World Water Forum is the largest water-related event in the world. This multi-stakeholder event is attended by world-renowned scholars, international organizations, officials, mayors, parliamentarians, NGOs, research institutions, public and private businesses, and civil society organizations.” Held every three years in a different host country, it features panels, discussions and a Water Expo showcasing solutions to widespread water issues. This year’s theme is “Implementation.”

The Wi-Fi rebuild in Williams Hall was completed in November. Our "statistics" show that Wi-Fi performance is much improved, but we'd like confirmation from the people that use Wi-Fi in that building. Ithaca College faculty, staff, and students interested in the Dana Student Internship Program are invited to submit applications for the Summer 2015 and 2015-2016 Academic Year. Awards range from $3,375 during the academic year to as much as $5,100 for full-time summer internships. A portion of the award is paid directly to the student over the course of the summer or academic year, with the remainder applied to the student’s college account.

Would you like some information on our classes, programs, extra-curricular activities and related events? Do you just want to de-stress before finals by listening to some merengue and salsa? Dr. Zillah Eisenstein, Professor in the Department of Politics will be presenting "A Sharing:  Against Disciplining/For Imagining."

Dr. Eisenstein has been a professor of Politics at Ithaca College in New York for the past 35 years and is now “Distinguished Scholar in Residence there. She now writes regularly for Al Jazeera. Throughout her career her books have tracked the rise of neoliberalism both within the U.S. and across the globe. She has documented the demise of liberal democracy and scrutinized the growth of imperial and militarist globalization.

Passion, betrayal and tradition come to the forefront as Ithaca College Theatre presents the Pulitzer Prize–winning play “Anna in the Tropics,” by Nilo Cruz. Performances will run in the Clark Theatre in Dillingham Center Dec. 2, 4, 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. with a 2: p.m. matinee on Dec. 6 and 7.

The online submission process for faculty sponsors to submit student presentations for the 18th Annual James J. Whalen Symposium will be open starting Monday, December 1, 2014 and will close on Monday, March 2, 2015.

Faculty:  Submissions will be accepted for presentations, performances, and displays.  Starting Monday, December 1, the online submission form and information can be found on the Whalen Symposium website at  https://www.ithaca.edu/provost/whalensymposium/

The award allows students to participate in Operation Crossroads Africa (OCA), America's premier cross-cultural exchange program designed to promote understanding of Africa and its culture.
