The staff of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) recognizes faculty’s potential to influence student’s attitudes about mental health care. We know the stigma about accessing mental health services cause some students to suffer needlessly. Therefore, we invite you to partner with us to identify students at risk, reach out to them, or to report your concerns via the Students at Risk Initiative.

The Grounds Department, in conjunction with Ruston Paving, will be making repairs and repaving G-Lot and H-Lot beginning on Monday, August 11th. This work will require the lots to be closed to vehicular traffic. Pedestrian traffic will still be allowed for access to the Hill Center, Whalen Center and Gannett Center. The lots are expected to re-opon on Thursday, August 14th. Barricades and signage will be placed at the entrance to the lots informing patrons of the status.

Dr. Richard Faria, Professor in the Department of Music Performance was invited to perform at the International Clarinet Association’s 40th annual ClarinetFest (July 30 - August 3, 2014) in Baton Rogue, LA. He performed the Sonata (1990) for clarinet and piano by Russian composer Katia Tchemberdji.

Doing More with More:  An Update on I2NY (Information Infrastructure for New York State) was the title of Karin Wikoff's presentation to the IDS Project Conference this past Friday.

 Mike Haaf (Chemistry) gave a talk entitled “A Grant Proposal Writing Exercise for Undergraduate Science Courses” at the 2014 International Conference on Chemistry Education (ICCE), held in Toronto this July.  The talk was based in part on a recent publication in the Journal for Chemical Education, co-authored by Kathryn Cole (Chemistry), Mike Haaf (Chemistry), Andy Smith (Biology) and Maki Inada (Biology).
